Blog Update – Changes

A few changes you’ll see around here.

  • You will see more frequent posts
  • You will see more short posts
  • You will see more posts from Christine
  • We will be posting updates on what’s new at Christine’s Books (formerly Soconik Books).

For the last year or so I’ve struggled with what direction to take this blog. I have a wide variety of interests I want to share and express.

When it comes to social media and blogging I spend much more time trying to gain understanding and knowledge than I do on actual creation of content.

I’m interested in business, finance, writing, philosophy, spirituality, entrepreneurship, education, self-improvement, freedom, parenting, humor, and politics. No more humor, too many misunderstandings. At one point I created a political blog, which was a mistake because I haven’t had the time to maintain it. I am going to close that blog and keep most political content off this blog (as much as I can and still maintain some perspective on education, business, and finance). People get too negative about political stuff, and I have no interest in adding to the negativity out there.

We will be writing about our home business more. They say the economy is soft, but right now Christine is doing well.

I will be posting more short posts with links to content I think you will find interesting.

I hope you find the changes helpful!

Let me know what you think.

  1. I have to admit I share your views on political conversations. When someone talks to me about politics I tend to get the feeling that I’m hearing a recorded message from my senator or a TV news program rather than interacting with a human being. I feel much more interested in learning about the person I’m talking to than hearing how they recite what they’ve learned in the media. And, as you say, no area of life seems to inspire more negativity in people.

  2. Chris,
I will still engage in the debate of ideas, but not the debate of personalities. I hope no one takes offense to this, but my foray this year into the Ron Paul campaign was an extreme distraction from my true purpose in life, and it is time for me to get back on track. I wish all the people well, but I have no desire to dwell upon political B.S. It was a mistake for me. It isn’t my area to excel. I can’t handle the lies, corruption, and character assassination without turning negative. I just had to walk away in body, mind, and spirit.

  3. WOW, I haven’t been here in some time… I like like new look! The site has a fresher, cleaner feel to it. Not bad.. I use the Thesis theme by Chris Pearson. You know, this was one of the first blogs a stumbled upon, by the way not because of “Stumble Upon,” right before I began to purse my own blogging journey. I’ll never forget it! 🙂

  4. Wow – sounds exciting. I look forward to the changes! Looks like I will be learning a lot from your blog in the future. (and trust me, I need all the help I can get!)
