Steve, 3,4, and 11 can help not only now, but in the future. Many people did not follow these rules on money and are having a hard time now. Nothing gives you peace of mind like knowing you have a backup fund in case something happens.

great list thanks! avoiding debt is pretty difficult and is something I think most people try avoiding, but usually can't. I would say just figure out how to become financially free :)

Hey Steve!

I found your website through Insight Writer and I wanted to drop a line.

I feel like there's no light at the end of my tunnel. No, I'm not gonna kill myself or anything like that. It's just that I feel whenever I plan a goal, something always comes along to mess things up.

For example, when I moved back in with my parents over a year ago, I wanted to be out on my own within six months. I couldn't find a job in the area I wanted to move into and thus, couldn't get an apartment. I asked my best friend if he wanted to move into an apartment with me when he goes to grad school. We were both pretty gung-ho about it, but now, he's not sure about it and is thinking of just dorming there.

I'm turning 23 here in a couple of hours, and I don't want to be stuck living with my parents for the rest of my life. I quit my job working at Wal-Mart in order to work on my blog. On a positive note, the blog is doing better than it was before I quit, but it's not where I want it to be traffic-wise. Things are picking up for my blog, but it's not enough to live off of just yet.

I decided to go back into the work force and I'm in the process of finding a job. However, things are tough around here and jobs are scarce. What should I do? I want to move, but I don't have the money to move and no job/source of income to sustain me.

Thanks, Steve!
